Cox, Fontenot win Don James Memorial tennis tournament

The Don James Memorial Doubles tournament took place on Aug. 3. The turnout was good with 22 players taking part. The format was six rounds of round robin format with the first four teams with the most points making the semifinals.

The teams battled through the morning sun enjoying coffee and pastry between matches. Chef Rory was back again to man the lunch time barbecue and potluck.

Play went into the afternoon hours with the teams of Kip Hartman/Adrian Bryan, Carey Cox/Scott Fontenot, Francis Danielek/Dawn Mehta, and Cheryl Klein/Mike Kelly making the semifinals. In Semifinal #1 Scott and Carey upset heavily favored Kip and Adrian. In Semifinal #2 Francis and Dawn prevailed over Cheryl and Mike. Carey and Scott continued their strong play winning the final 4-0 over Francis and Dawn. Kip and Adrian beat Cheryl and Mike in the third place match.

A good time was had by all and we are looking forward to an even better tournament next year.
