BONNERS FERRY — Four Lady Badgers were recognized on their senior night before their last home regular season game, a 70-43 nonconference win over Stillwater Christian.
Emily Blackmore is the girls’ manager after suffering a season-ending knee injury during a summer game. Jerzie Pluid has been a two-year starting post. She also sat out, resting a shoulder injury. Maecie Liermann is starting guard and team co-captain.
The fourth senior, Mackenzie Jackson started in place of Pluid and made the most of the moment, leading the Badgers with 18 points and 13 rebounds against the Cougars of Kalispell, Mont.
“Mackenzie was all over the offensive glass,” said Coach Travis Hinthorn. “She also did a great job getting to the free throw line. Usually Mack will get a rebound and put back or two a game. She had a bunch of them tonight.”
Holly Ansley had a game high 19 points and 8 steals for the Badgers.
Bonners Ferry will play Kellogg in the first round of districts which will be hosted by league champion Timberlake. Districts will be Feb. 6 and 7, with the district champion qualifying for state at Skyview High School in Nampa, Idaho. A second team will also qualify for state in the district second place game hosted by the higher seed on Feb. 9.
