Emma Louise (Johnson) Whitman

Emma Louise (Johnson) Whitman was born in Astoria, Ore., on May 29, 1945. She passed away of a heart attack in her sleep on Aug. 26, 2018.

Emmy, as she was called, was raised in Grants Pass, Ore. She attended college at Southern Oregon University and Western University, where she received her master’s degree in women’s studies. She retired from the State of Oregon where she was employed as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

She had an immense love for all animals, thrift stores and enjoyed being out and about in the community. Those who knew Emmy knew she was strong-willed, outspoken and easily brought to laughter. She touched many people’s lives in her walk through life.

She is survived by her sons, Craig Kreiger, Erik (Mary) Kreiger of Sandpoint, Idaho, Rory (Julie) Taylor of Georgia; and daughters, Regan Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev., and Krista (Wayne) Kreiger-Hurst of Naples, Idaho. She has eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, at the Senior Citizens Center, 6635 Lincoln St., at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018. She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
