ELECTION: Terry Spence for Commissioner
I first met Terry Spence approximately 9 years ago when I was the Patrol Agent in Charge of the BF Border Patrol Station and he was the Commander of American Legion Post 55. Terry used to coordinate events with me and eventually got me involved in the Legion. As a member of the Legion, I once again work closely with him. We can always rely on him to be available when we are called upon to provide a firing party and taps for a veteran’s funeral. He is key in coordinating our local Memorial Day Parade, Memorial Day Services and Veterans Day Ceremonies. He is always willing to talk to youngsters at our middle and high schools about the military and of the educational benefits available. As part of the American Legion Post 55 Executive Board, Terry has supported our first annual Post 55 Scholarship to two graduating BFHS Seniors, provided financial support to our local Robotics programs and assisted local veterans. During the winter he willingly volunteers and serves as the range safety officer, assisting new shooters.
Over the years of working with Terry it is apparent that he has strong organizational, planning and communicative skills. He gladly gives up his time to volunteer and serve his community. He is a problem solver- willing to make tough decisions. I am confident that the skills he has learned in his military and civilian careers will be an asset to this county if he is elected to be one of our commissioners.
