Boundary County has been awarded Federal Funds under the National Board Program. Boundary County has been chosen to receive $3024.00 to assist with emergency food and shelter programs. This selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the US Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency, and consists of representatives from American Red Cross, Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.; the Jewish Federations of North America; Salvation Army and the United Way Worldwide. A local board chaired by Sue Williams, will determine how the funds awarded to Boundary County will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area. The following persons have been invited to serve on the local board: Barbara Kovaks, Lorraine Nicholas, Tom Peyton, Jamie Hill and Liz Bigsby. Under terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: Be private voluntary non-profits or units off government. Be eligible to receive federal funds. Have an accounting system. Practice non-discrimination. Have demonstrated the capability to deliver the program. If they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a board. Qualifying agencies are urges to apply. Boundary County has distributed Emergency Food and Shelter Funds through Community Action Partnership office and through the Seniors Hospitality Center.
