Recently in the Herald there was a letter complaining about how I run the Boundary County Republican Party Central Committee.
Before I respond to that letter, allow me to explain a little about what the Republican Party Central Committee is and what it does. Every county has a central committee for each party. The central committees consist of an elected precinct committeeman or committeewoman from each precinct. The function of the county central committee as defined by law and by state party rules is to identify Republicans to fill vacancies in any elected office in county government when the person who previously held the office was a Republican. Along with that, we participate in the state committee. We can write resolutions and we can submit platform ideas, but the reality is that when you live in a county that has a total of six precincts you probably are not going to have much effect on how the state committee operates.
Mrs. Rose who lives in Bonner County, not Boundary County, is entitled to her opinion. The Boundary County Republican Party Central Committee operates legally and lawfully according to the rules of the Idaho State Republican Party, which is a private organization.
In addition, we have always treated our guests respectfully and graciously. Thank you.
