Stolley is the right choice for sheriff

What is the difference among the three candidates for Boundary County sheriff?

All three candidates for sheriff have numerous certifications, training and leadership qualifications obtained either through law enforcement training, military service, or both. What stands out as a difference is their involvement in and ties to our community. Travis Stolley excels in this regard.

One measure of this involvement is interaction with the youth of Boundary County. Reviewing the websites of the candidates, I find no mention of youth involvement by Dave Shuman. Jon VanGesen has past involvement with youth in Washington and is currently in Sandpoint but not in Boundary County. In contrast, Travis Stolley has served as a school resource officer, a hunter safety instructor, and a wrestling coach for both middle and high school teams in Boundary County. He has a strong relationship with the young people in our county.

All the candidates express the need to address drug use in the county. One way to accomplish this is by winning the respect of young people before they begin using drugs. Winning the respect of all community members is an important part of being a sheriff. As a long-term resident, I believe Travis has a head start in this effort and that is why I am supporting him for the office of Sheriff of Boundary County on May 21.
